As part of a wider commercial strategy across the Metrocentre, Knowles & Co. were instructed to coordinate the amalgamation of three vacant retail units, to enable the relocation of Schuh. The works were part of an ongoing strategy to facilitate the expansion of Zara.

Our instruction is a continuation of our strong relationship with the Metrocentre Partnership, which is built upon a strong ethos of trust and reliability. We were responsible for the full design, cost management and full liaison with the incoming Tenant to ensure successful project delivery.

The works involved the full strip out back to shell and amalgamation of three retail units to form a single retail unit. Particular challenges encountered on this project was ensuring a consistent screed level was provided across the units, following the removal of the dividing walls. In addition, we were responsible for procuring a new upgraded power supply for the unit within the programme period, to ensure the Tenant had sufficient electrical capacity to commence trade. Practical Completion was achieved following an eight week construction programme, with the Tenant able to undertake their fit-out works in line with their target programme.

Following on from the completion of these works, Knowles & Co. were subsequently instructed as Project Manager for the ongoing Zara expansion. We look forward to sharing updates as the works progress.
